Hello, we're Terry and Jeanne Hudson.

This time, 2 years ago, Jeanne and I were still in St. Thomas, USVI. We had been thinking about moving back to Texas, but still hadn't made a decision.  Seems like a lot of things happen in December for us.

In December 2000, we sailed our 43' foot boat Osprey, from Kemah, TX to St. Thomas, USVI.  We stayed almost 8 years enjoying the laid back lifestyle, beautiful aqua blue water and sailing conditions. People often ask why we left and the answer isn't a simple one.  We developed many close friends that shared one thing in common, the water and lifestyle. We missed our families and Texas friends. So we sold Osprey (after owning her 12 years) and made the decision to move back.
So why Jamaica Beach, Texas you ask??  During those times we came back for visits, two of our friends had purchased weekend homes in Jamaica Beach.  After visiting 3 or 4 times, we developed a fondness for this little city inside a city.  The water was a draw of course, but in reality it was the friendliness and again, laidback lifestyle, that  persuaded us to make the Village of Jamaica Beach home.

We actually moved in April 2008 only to evacuate for Hurricane Ike in September.  It was 30 days before we could actually move back into our home.  Like every other home in the surrounding area, our garage and everything below our home was ripped out by 10 feet of water.  It took nearly 5 months to rebuild what was lost.  I did most of the work  and caught myself thinking that I could probably do this on another damaged home.

So Jeanne and I started making a portfolio of hurricane damaged homes.  We had about 30 homes complete with pictures, owners and numbers.  Then a friend asked if had we seen the damaged home on Curlew.  It was a home they had been thinking about, but the timing wasn't right for them, so they showed it to us.  Immediately, we fell in love with the location and could see past all the damage and rodents that had made this property home.

The rest is history.  We took this home down to the studs and completely rebuilt, including replacing the flat roof with a gabled roof, all new wiring and plumbing, and a complete redesign of the existing floor plan.  Here's a before picture...

Now, everything is new for you.  And, I'll guarantee one thing; you'll be hard-pressed to find a better location to watch the sun set.  We've named this little home, Sunset Bungalow.  It's a compact, but roomy home with 2 huge decks.  Located on a very private canal, you'll enjoy good fishing and crabbing right off the lighted boat dock.
