Galveston Bay and located in popular Jamaica Beach (just nine miles west
of the Galveston Seawall) you don't have to go far to find good
restaurants, grocery store, boat launch, shopping and of course, the
un-crowded Jamaica Beach beach. For other Galveston vacation
activities, well known tourist venues like Schlitterbahn and Moody
Gardens are a quick drive.

The immaculate and newly-updated beach house has many luxuries you don’t usually find in an island resort town—very comfortable beds, lots of pillows and towels, bright happy colors, modern appliances and more. But the best part is the incredible, unimpeded view of Galveston Bay. From the spacious (and private) wooden deck, we watched the sun rise and set over the water just a few feet away. At night we could hear the waves gently touching the clean, sandy shore, and we saw the stars shining brightly overhead. In the morning, we awakened to the sounds of seagulls diving for breakfast. There's
a lot of great Galveston beach houses, but at our home, Sunsets are
spectacular from either large canal or street side deck. If you watch closely,
you just might see the rare green flash as the sun sets on the horizon. In
fact, visitors often tell us this is one of the best places they've been to
watch the sun set. Imagine late afternoons filled with great memories of
one awesome sunset after the other. Each day presents a different array of
colors and hues. Located close to the natural sea grass and water of
Jubilee Bay, you'll be amazed at the natural palette of soft pastels painted
right before your eyes. Sip your favorite beverage with your friends and
take some great photographs of the phenomenal sunsets offered just about every
day of the year.
Our unique Galveston vacation rental, "Sunset Bungalow" sleeps 8 comfortably. Pull out the full trundle in the bunkhouse and 2 additional people can sleep in a bed for a total of 10. In a pinch, 1 other person could sleep on the leather sofa.

IMAX 3D Theater, Palm Beach, Discovery Museum, Ridefilm Theater and the Aquarium Pyramid. Schlitterbahn water
park is minutes away from the Moody Gardens Complex. Visit the popular Galveston Island Strand and Historic
District. Art galleries, unique shopping, & upscale dining are just steps away. For an afternoon excursion visit the
Kemah Boardwalk, NASA, or the Gulf Greyhound Race
Park for an afternoon of dog racing.
DIRECTIONS TO "Sunset
Bungalow" in Jamaica Beach:
Take 45 South from Houston to 61st
street in Galveston and turn right at the light... 2nd exit after causeway bridge.
Go to Seawall and turn right.
Jamaica Beach is approx. 11 miles west. Watch for Valero at the corner of
HWY 3005 and Bob Smith. Turn right on Bob Smith.
Drive 2 minutes (past
Jamaica Beach Park) to Curlew. Turn Right.
Look for Blue house on right with white trim; 16705 Curlew.

About the owners: Jeanne and Terry Hudson are the
adventuresome types. Prone to travel, in December 2000 they took
they're beloved
sailboat Osprey, and spent a month sailing to St. Thomas US Virgin
Islands. After staying for nearly 8 years, they decided to leave
and return
to Texas to re-establish important relationships with family and
friends. They loved the laid back atmosphere of the USVI and life
in St. Thomas
and hoped to find a similar hideaway community. Two close friends
owned weekend homes in Jamaica Beach and after visiting several times,
they purchased a home and moved in April 2008 only to be one of
thousands affected in September by Hurricane IKE.
